We have really appreciated Running Deer's swift and personalised response to pupil needs. Their alternative provision offers the opportunity for bespoke intervention and support to meet need whilst longer term outcomes are explored. They work closely with the referring school and ensure that for the child a joined up, child-centred, cohesive approach is maintained.

‘Despite often checking in with me, C participated in a range of provided and self-chosen activities which involved courage, risk taking, resilience and personal challenge. He was allowed to explore and celebrate his own achievements and, although he has a long way to go, this has helped towards building his self-esteem. He was allowed to try and succeed, without judgement and he was allowed to make choices, in a safe and wholesome environment about the directions he wanted to go in. This has been so incredibly good for him. C was gently encouraged to step out of his comfort zone, leaving Mum and Dad and exploring the safe space with Adam, who he built up a trusting relationship with during the sessions. C was particularly pleased with the wooden mallet he made with Adam, and it was good for him to participate in the whole process from beginning to end. The mallet has pride of place on our kitchen shelf and C shows it to everyone who visits! C's Dad and I felt included in the whole process and we felt supported as a family.’
