A day in the life of an Intervention Practitioner:
A typical day will be spent working one-to-one with young people . . .
- Supporting children in our setting who are finding it challenging to access mainstream educational provision.
- Delivering high-quality child-centred Alternative Provision.
- Providing structure, support transition and support educational outcomes for children.
- Utilising the benefits of biophilia, accessing the outdoors to build resilience, self-esteem and develop emotional literacy.
- Providing therapeutic interventions to support emotional wellbeing.
- Listening to young people.
- Providing an opportunity to build trusting relationships with an emotionally available adult.
- Participating in the active safeguarding of our users, clients, and staff; working with colleagues, and external agencies to keep children and young people safe,
- Working in cooperation with our senior members of staff.
Balance...
Our Alternative Provision balances therapeutic trauma-informed support with flexible educational experiences teaching children in a variety of environments including the outdoors.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent.
- 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per annum (Term Time Only).
- Pay: £15 per hour (£23,415 based on 35 hours per week, actual) including 30 minute paid break.

Lead Interventions Practitioner
- TERM TIME ONLY: Full time 37.5 hours a week (39 Weeks a year)
- Pay: £31,000 (Actual) including holiday pay. This includes a 30-minute paid break.
- Reporting to: Head of Centre
Job Description
Intervention Practitioners make up the core team of Running Deer Intervention Services.
Working alongside other Intervention Practitioners and our Leadership team the Senior Intervention Practitioner will work 1:1 with our users delivering therapeutic activities and supporting them with their learning.
As an Intervention Practitioner you will:
- Support children in our setting who are finding it challenging to access
- mainstream educational provision.
- Deliver high-quality child-centred Alternative Provision.
- Provide structure, support transition and support educational outcomes for
- children.
- Utilise the benefits of biophilia, accessing the outdoors to build resilience,
- self-esteem and develop emotional literacy.
- Provide therapeutic interventions to support emotional wellbeing.
- Listen to young people.
- Provide an opportunity to build trusting relationships with an emotionally
- available adult.
- Participate in the active safeguarding of our users, clients, and staff, whilst working
- with colleagues, and external agencies to keep children and young people safe,
- Work in cooperation with our senior members of staff.
Additional duties as Lead Practitioner include:
- Line managing and supporting Intervention Practitioners developing professional practice.
- Exemplifying communication and information sharing within the service, ensuring effective communication exists.
- Developing and supporting the induction of new staff to the team.
- Assisting the Head of Centre with personnel issues
- To be liaison between Intervention Practitioners and the senior team.
- Working alongside the senior team to implement change.
- Acting as a Deputy Health and Safety Officer for the centre, liaising with the Health and Safety Officer for Running Deer, ensuring weekly safety checks are completed and Risk Assessments are in place for the service.
